THE ART OF MAKING
Guided by a respect for material and craftsmanship, Bhuv brings together natural fabrics, Nigerian textile traditions, and thoughtful design to create garments that honour heritage while embracing modern life.
The sketch
The finished adire, constructed into the Marilyn dress.
Adire: From Sketch to Cloth
Our adire is never chosen from a catalogue It begins with an idea, translated into hand-drawn illustrations that map out every motif and line. These sketches are then interpreted by skilled artisans using traditional dyeing techniques, transforming concept into fabric. The process allows us to honour the heritage of adire while creating patterns that are uniquely Bhuv.
Asooke: Woven Heritage
Asooke is a textile woven with history, long celebrated for its strength, texture, and cultural significance. At Bhuv, we bring this heritage into the present by transforming the fabric into pieces designed for the modern woman. In our studio, each garment takes shape through careful craftsmanship—where tradition meets thoughtful design, and heritage evolves into something new.
From loom to silhouette.
Inside the Studio
Every Bhuv collection begins with an idea—often inspired by culture, history, and the evolving life of the woman we design for. In the studio, these ideas gradually take form through sketches, fabric exploration, and thoughtful design. While textiles such as adire and asooke connect our work to a deep heritage of Nigerian craft, we also work with fabrics like linen, crepe, and mesh, selecting each material for the way it shapes movement, texture, and silhouette.
Produced entirely in Nigeria, every garment reflects our commitment to local craftsmanship and careful making. From the first sketch to the final stitch, the process unfolds through many skilled hands—cutting, shaping, fitting, and refining each piece until it reaches its final form. What emerges is a collection where inspiration, fabric, and craftsmanship come together, allowing tradition and modern design to exist in quiet harmony.
After that, with the aid of chalk, the lines of the jacket are drawn out. We then move on to the delicate cutting stage.
